The Republic of Texas

Governor Perry and some GOP whiners are talking secession these days. What a laugh! Let them. And let them take George W with them.

If they had brought this nonsense up during the last administration they would have been invaded. After all, Texas does have oil.

On a more serious note, if Texas does decide to secede Governor Perry doesn’t stand a chance. Chuck Norris would kick his ass in a gubernatorial race for the President of the Republic of Texas.

All I can say is they are a bunch of asshats who are showing their true colors. The rest of America endured eight years of a phony cowboy’s tenure in the White House and these crybabies can’t make it three months without talking about breaking up the Union. These people are talking sedition and should be prosecuted.

You call yourself a Libertarian? You suggest that the government focus on services (aka controlling your life)! Rick Perry suggested secession because of Mr. Obama getting his fingers in everybody’s lives. It’s not partisanship; it’s ideology. And George Bush is not as stupid as the media would have you believe. In four years, you’ll be begging for W. back.

Yes Josh, I am a libertarian. But I also know that talk of sedition and secession is treason. Rick Perry and any other politician or citizen who talks of breaking up the Union is guilty and should be dealt with. You call yourself a Republican? A member of the party of Lincoln? Remember what happened under his watch. Those traitors who attempted what Rick Perry advocates were crushed. The Union endured.

And George Bush, the creator of the largest government intrusion into our private lives of any president. The president who was so fear driven he resorted to spying on his own people. A president who was so afraid of criticism he restricted citizens to “free speech zones” so he wouldn’t be exposed to it. A president who’s moral compass was so broken he put all of our service men and women in danger by violating international law and the Geneva convention by torturing suspected terrorists. A president who led us into war on a foundation of lies. I don’t think so. If anyone wants GW back they need their heads examined. I’ll miss GW about as much as I’d miss an anal fistula.

Exactly how is it consider sedition or treason? Do you know your history at all? Do you believe it was sedition or treason for the Colonies to secede from Great Britain? Was it sedition or treason for the Soviet satellites to secede from the USSR? Was it sedition or treason for Panama to secede from Colombia? If you really are a “libertarian” as you claim then please explain how you can support the secession of America from England but not support the same right of Texas to leave the United States.

Mitchell, sedition is speech or organization that advocates insurrection against the established order. Treason is treachery against one’s country. It is any attempt to overthrow the government or impair its well being.

Talk of secession is both. We fought a Civil War over the same issues.

Was it wrong to secede from Great Britian. Of course not. We were being taxed without representation. Presently you are being taxed by the very people you elected to represent you.

Texas chose of its own free will to become a part of the United States. It was a mutually beneficial arrangement. When the Republic of Texas became a state it knew exactly what kind of a union it was entering and the obligations and duties of citizenship.

Personally I’d like to see Texas go its own way. It is a beautiful state with an abundance ignorant hot heads. They would not last long under the leadership now in place in Texas. It would become another third world, Latin American country in no time.

Just because a party loses its majority and doesn’t get its way is no excuse for the losers to pack up their toys and run. Like it or not we are all in this together. You want to change things? Then get out and vote your conscious. Majority does rule in this country.

I left the Libertarian party because I saw it being over run by sore losers from the GOP. They brought with them their backwards, fundamentalists ideas and tried to take over a party that traditionally stood to the right of the GOP. If you read the “About” page you would have seen that I became disillusioned with the Libertarian organization and became an Independent. I have no use for either of the major parties.
