The Pledge of Alligence – Under God and “In God We Trust”

There is a lot of heated conversations going on right now about people refusing to stand, cover their hearts and say the Pledge of Alligence to our flag. I read a lot of fiery emails about how people who refuse to comply should leave. I think this is nonsense.

I remember when the two words, “under God”, was added to our Pledge. I was a young man then and even then it troubled me. I’d always been taught that there was and should be a separation of church and state. These two words violated that intent. My own reaction was simple, when saying the Pledge of Alligence I simply omit the two words. I still love my country, I still make my pledge and I still live by my own personal conviction that those two words are not necessary and are divisive.

But refusing to stand and say the pledge is offensive. It is a matter of respect. Respect for the nation that has given us all great freedoms and respect for our fellow citizens who take the pledge seriously. Shame on those who refuse to show respect.

Now I don’t think the mention of a diety is wrong in all things. For example I believe that the words “In God We Trust” belong on our currency. Why? Because every since we came off the gold standard nothing has been backing our currency but hot air, lies and deception. It is a fiat currency based totally on faith. And it is this faith that has wrought the hovac throughout our financial system today. They dropped gold and silver for oil. Our monetary system has for decades been based on the “petro dollar”. As long as oil was sold and traded on the dollar standard our currency remained strong and sound. But today the world is moving to the “petro Euro”. And now everyone is seeing the consequences on the speculative nature or our monetary foundation.

So yes, “In God We Trust” applies. Unfortunately faith will buy you little when the markets fail. But a handfull of gold and silver will still get you what you need anywhere in the world.

Southern Cross Cruisers Club Ruins Crooks Day

Published by DaFrog under Uncategorized

I love it when I read good stories about bikers, or in this case bikies. And after reading all the stories about this incident you got to admit these crooks would be great nominees for the Darwin Awards. It all happened at the club’s meeting in Sydney, Australia. Two unbelievably stupid thugs, wearing hoods, waded their way through a throng of motorcycles in front of the Regents Park Sporting and Community Club where the Southern Cross Cruisers were meeting. Wielding machetes they demanded money from the proprietor and patrons. The commotion attracted the attention of the Southern Cross Cruisers in an adjacent room. Big mistake for the dirtbags.

As soon as the burly members of the Southern Cross Cruiser Club realized what was happening, most of them can be seen chasing the robbers, with chairs and tables hoisted over their heads.

The club president, identifying himself only as “Jester,” said one suspect escaped by leaping over a balcony, while the other tried to flee through a service entrance. “Imagine 50 bikers coming running at you, all wearing leather and in black,” added Jester.

Police confirm club patrons subdued one man, who was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The other suspect was captured nearby. (Source: CBS News)

Soon the incredibly stupid robbers were in custody. This is nothing new for the Regents Park Community club. They’ve been ripped off before. And in typical Aussie style they took it in stride.

The Regents Park Sporting and Community Club is a place where locals come to enjoy drinks and take part in various games: cricket, soccer, lawn bowling. The biking enthusiasts meet there once a month to plan rides and other club activities.

In the last year or so, criminals have struck the club about 10 times, Webb said. And Wednesday night’s incident, while unusual, wasn’t the most memorable.

“We have these old bingo players and they are really serious about their games,” Webb explained. “They do not like to be interrupted.”

When robbers barged in one evening and announced that they were holding up the place, the players turned around and testily told them to be quiet.

“They were making it difficult for the players to hear the numbers being called,” Webb said. (Source: CNN)

The members of the Southern Cross Cruisers actions reflect favorably on motorcyclist everywhere. Way to go guys! Chalk one up for the good guys.
